What is your experience in teaching lessons?
I have been teaching private lessons and leading clinics since 2014. I currently teach clarinet at Bethel University and University of Northwestern-St. Paul.
What is your education background?
I hold a Master's Degree in Clarinet Performance from the Peabody Institute of Music and a Bachelor's Degree in Clarinet Performance from the College-Conservatory of Music of the University of Cincinnati.
What level can you teach?
I am comfortable teaching a student at any level they are at but I prefer advanced middle school, high school, or college students. I prefer to work with students who have already had 1-2 years of experience OR are motivated to advance quickly. I prefer students over the age of 11.
What will students learn in a lesson?
Because I believe every person is different and has different learning styles, every lesson is not the same.
I focus mainly on what students are struggling with and assign exercises or music that help improve these areas.
Students will learn to:
Improve their tone quality
Improve their technique and articulation
Sight read
Enjoy different types of music and repertoire
Express themselves!
Aside from these skills students will learn, they will also learn about time management, discipline, goal setting, and personal growth.
What do your lesson rates cover?
Lesson fees will cover not only instruction but also administrative work that occurs outside of lesson hours. Administrative work includes: weekly lesson planning, schedule coordination, creating exercises, researching repertoire, providing repertoire, and updating lesson notes and assignments.
